The Polo Vivo is Volkswagen new entry-level car in the supermini segment and now forms the company's entry-level offering with the recent departure of the CitiGolf from the model lineup.

According to Volkswagen, the aim of the Polo Vivo is to provide "affordable and accessible mobility" to the South African market. Although the car possesses the company's German engineering know-how it has what Volkswagen terms "a South African heart", thanks to its local production at the firm's Uitenhage plant and the provision of no less than 70 percent of its parts from local sources.

This approach has meant that Volkswagen is able to offer a range of Vivo models at highly competitive prices whilst ensuring that servicing and parts procurement is as low-cost and hassle-free as possible.

The Polo Vivo will be available in two body versions, hatchback (2-door and 4-door) and saloon.
